I have also spent some time volunteering in Victoria and ran my own campaign last summer in partnership with United Way for their Southern Vancouver Island period product drive. Attached is a newsletter posted by United Way detailing my involvement. I am currently in the process of planning another product drive for this year’s event.

Being a part of an active and progressive community in Victoria has also meant attending and promoting a number of local social movements. From opposing anti-SOGI legislation to advocating for Palestinian freedom, I have been privileged enough to use my voice loudly in this city. Through these movements and protests, I have practiced active listening, advocation skills, and relationship building. They have been invaluable to both my social and academic development. I have also forged relationships with a number of local organizers in the city who I hope to continue working with into the future. Support and protection of one another is the foundation of these movements. I have translated the relational and reflexive participation practices learned throughout my degree to become a strong part of this community.
