I wrote this essay for a course on queer politics and activism through the ages. The assignment was to connect course concepts to our own experiences with queer theory and LGBT politics. I entered this piece extremely excited for the opportunity to communicate my queerness and how it interacts with the current and historical moments of queer politics. With this, I hope the reader learns more about my identity, but also sees my ability to connect large concepts and movements to the grounded, lived experiences of the individuals within them.
